Short Takes: 1. Please keep our shut-ins, the sick and those who are recovering in your prayers. If you or a loved one is entering the hospital, please call the pastor so that he can visit. The prayer chain contact person is Dorothy Cain, at 724-583-2130. 2. Don’t forget - we recycle: ink-jet cartridges, eyeglasses and aluminum cans. Cartridges and eyeglasses can be brought to the sanctuary. Cans should be taken to the rear of the education building. 3.
4. Position Available: At the end of December Mandi Cerullo will step down as the secretary of the church. She has served for over a decade. It is time for a change. The position is mostly volunteer, with a small salary as a token of appreciation. It involves running off and folding the weekly bulletin; running off, assembling and mailing the monthly newsletter; some typing and some office work. For more information, contact Susan Brioli, chairperson of the Pastor Parish Relations Committee. (724.583.2041) 5. Prayer Shawls may be requested to be made for loved ones. There are applications on the back table of the sanctuary. Or, call Dora Farrier at 724.583.9446. 6. The Upper Room devotional for October is available in the back of the sanctuary. LARGE PRINT, TOO. Suggested donation of $1.00. Rev. Lewis is also ordering the Upper Room Disciplines - 2009 for anyone who would like to receive an entire book of devotions. Each devotion is based on the lectionary, the set of scriptures that are assigned to be read each Sunday. That way you can follow along with what is being read and preached each week. Stay tuned for when the books become available. 7. A wheel chair is being kept in the entrance of the sanctuary for anyone who may need it, at church or in their home. 8. Baptism Celebrated: Emily Addison Pennington was baptized on September 14th. She is the daughter of Bobby and Patty Pennington. May she grow in grace and in Christ-likeness. 9. NEEDED: We are in need of a microwave oven for the church kitchen. If you have a gently used one that you could donate, that would be wonderful! | |
One of the goals of the Church Council for this year is to bring back the many fellowship activities we used to enjoy. Things like game night, talent night, movie night, picnics, dinners and so forth. the Council suggested that instead of having one person to coordinate all of this different activities, that maybe several families could take responsibility. Each person, or family who volunteered would plan an event for one month. That way the "work" would not all fall on one individual.
If you are interested in organizing a fellowship activity for a month, please call
Rev. Lewis and let him know what month and what activity.
